The "Jinshi" Leap of Solid-State Batteries: Gotion High-tech Charges Ahead from Quasi-Solid to All-Solid Track

Published: Jul 29, 2025 15:41
In 2025, Gotion High-tech's Jinshi all-solid-state battery will complete its pilot-scale production. Gotion High-tech will adopt a dual-line layout with 12 Gwh of quasi-solid-state batteries and 0.2 Gwh of all-solid-state batteries. By 2027, it aims to achieve mass production of 400 Wh/kg batteries, targeting a market worth hundreds of billions.

SMM July 29 News:

Gotion High-tech (SZ:002074) is a leading new energy battery producer. Its solid-state battery, the "Golden Stone Battery," is in the pilot production phase and has not yet reached the stage of large-scale commercial application.

In May 2025, Gotion High-tech publicly disclosed its progress in solid-state batteries and unveiled the G-Cell quasi-solid-state battery for the first time.

The G-Cell quasi-solid-state battery boasts an energy density of 300Wh/kg, extending the driving range of pure electric sedans to 1,000 km. Additionally, the battery is equipped with a "nanoscale bulletproof armor," ensuring absolute safety with no fire or explosion even when pierced by a 3mm steel needle. It also features proprietary adaptive solid-solid interface technology, establishing high-speed ion transport channels to guarantee stable and efficient operation throughout the battery's life cycle. Gotion High-tech has planned the construction of a 12GWh quasi-solid-state battery production line. The "001 prototype" equipped with the G-Cell quasi-solid-state battery has already surpassed 10,000 km in total mileage.

Gotion High-tech also announced progress on the Golden Stone all-solid-state battery and introduced five new battery products. The developed Golden Stone all-solid-state battery has completed pilot production, and the design work for the first-generation mass production line has officially commenced.

The Golden Stone all-solid-state battery adopts a sulphide-based approach, utilizing micro-nano solid electrolytes, ultra-thin film-coated monocrystalline cathodes, and three-dimensional mesoporous silicon anodes. It achieves an energy density of 350Wh/kg, a volumetric energy density of 800Wh/L, and a cycle life exceeding 3,000 cycles, having passed rigorous 200°C thermal chamber tests. Compared to the first-generation product released a year earlier, the new Golden Stone all-solid-state battery has achieved multiple breakthroughs in material innovation—sulphide electrolyte ionic conductivity increased by 60%, air stability significantly improved, and the capacity per gram of cathode and anode materials also saw major advancements.

Gotion High-tech's solid-state battery strategy follows a "two-step" approach, transitioning from the quasi-solid-state battery sector to the all-solid-state battery sector.

**Quasi-Solid-State Battery Progress:**
- A 12GWh production line has been completed.
- The G-Cell quasi-solid-state battery achieves an energy density of 300Wh/kg.
- Four customers are currently conducting vehicle tests, with cumulative mileage exceeding 10,000 km.

**All-Solid-State Battery Progress:**
- Gotion High-tech's 0.2GWh pilot line for all-solid-state batteries is operational.
- Core equipment localisation rate reaches 100%, with a yield rate of 90%.
- Road testing with installed batteries has begun.
- Mass production of 400Wh/kg batteries is planned for 2027, with dry-process technology reducing production costs by 30%. Full-scale production is expected by 2030.

**Gotion High-tech's Market Strategy: Diversified Expansion**
- **Power Battery:** Exclusive supplier for Chery Fengyun A9L, with over 60% market share in the hybrid market.
- **ESS Sector:** The Qianyuan Smart ESS system has secured 3GWh of intent orders.
- **Low-Altitude Economy:** Strategic partnership with EHang to develop eVTOL-specific batteries.

**Gotion High-tech Solid-State Battery Timeline**

- 2017: Began work on semi-solid-state batteries.
- 2022: Launched its first semi-solid-state battery.
- 2024: Released its first all-solid-state battery, the first-generation "Golden Stone Battery."
- 2025: All-solid-state battery vehicle testing commenced.

Gotion High-tech holds a substantial number of patents in the solid-state battery field, totaling 100.

**SMM Analysis:** Gotion High-tech's "two-step" strategy accelerates solid-state battery commercialization to 2027. The 12GWh quasi-solid-state production line addresses hybrid and ESS demand, while the 0.2GWh pilot line for sulphide-based all-solid-state batteries achieves 350Wh/kg energy density and 3,000 cycles, with road tests underway for four automakers. The 350Wh/kg product's early deployment marks the arrival of the "350 era" for power batteries, combining cost and safety advantages to reshape high-end pure EV, eVTOL, and ESS markets, while driving upstream demand for sulphide electrolytes and dry-process equipment worth hundreds of billions.

Cost Push or Supply-Demand Restructuring?—The Real Logic Behind Iron Phosphate Price Increases in April
Iron phosphate negotiations in April were deadlocked, with offers hitting 13,000 yuan/mt. The price surge appeared raw-material driven, but in fact reflected pricing power shifting upstream after a reversal in supply-demand fundamentals. Downstream buyers cited “cost increases” to push back, yet conveniently forgot the upstream losses quietly absorbed over the past three years. This was never about simple cost pass-through—it was a restructuring of profit distribution across the chain.
