Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 23, ONTIME, a mobility technology and service company under GAC Group, unveiled its "Robotaxi+" strategy, signaling a new phase in the commercialization of autonomous ride-hailing services in China.

With this initiative, the company aims to leverage its operational expertise and platform advantages to offer integrated solutions for regulators, autonomous driving technology providers, and ecosystem partners—laying the groundwork for the scaled deployment of Robotaxi fleets nationwide.

At the heart of the new strategy is an expanded, open-access platform that goes beyond ONTIME's original Robotaxi operating system. The upgraded "Robotaxi+" platform is designed to aggregate high-quality resources across the industry and serve as a one-stop hub for all stakeholders involved in commercializing autonomous mobility. ONTIME plans to offer end-to-end solutions—from asset operations to fleet maintenance—ensuring transparency, regulatory compliance, and vehicle safety throughout the Robotaxi lifecycle.

The company has set an ambitious target: within five years, it intends to bring Robotaxi services to 100 major cities in China. To support this goal, ONTIME is launching two parallel development tracks—dubbed the "Spark Initiative" and the "Galaxy Initiative"—focused respectively on expanding fleet size and building a robust operational infrastructure.

Under the "Spark Initiative," ONTIME will replicate its successful Robotaxi operations from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and roll out standardized service models across new regions. The company plans to form large-scale Robotaxi fleets—potentially exceeding 10,000 vehicles—through strategic collaborations with leading autonomous driving technology firms. These partners will supply a diverse range of Robotaxi models to bolster ONTIME's capacity, while ONTIME will provide a full suite of asset management and operational services, including model selection, financial structuring, and outsourced fleet management.

Meanwhile, the "Galaxy Initiative" addresses the massive backend requirements of running large autonomous fleets. ONTIME is committing a billion-yuan-level investment over the next five years to establish a three-tiered maintenance and support network in 100 cities. The network will include rapid-response centers, maintenance stations, and regional hubs, with a projected footprint of 1,000 locations—collectively enabling ONTIME to support up to 100,000 Robotaxi vehicles annually.

ONTIME CEO Jiang Hua emphasized the company's ambition to lead the charge in bringing Robotaxi services to scale in China. As of June 2025, ONTIME operates more than 300 autonomous vehicles across key urban areas including Nansha district in Guangzhou, Bao'an and Nanshan districts in Shenzhen, and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone. The platform now boasts over 4,000 service points and has logged more than 4 million kilometers of safe operations with its self-owned Robotaxi fleet.
