Beijing (Gasgoo)–Recently, Horizon Robotics (Horizon) successfully powered on its new entry-level automotive smart computing solution, the Journey 6B, marking a key milestone in the deployment of its Journey 6 series, according to a press release Horizon issued on July 14 via its WeChat account.
From initial power-up to image output at 1V, the process took just 23 minutes, setting a new industry benchmark for startup speed in ADAS compute platforms.
Since its launch in 2024, Horizon's Journey 6 series has seen the mid-tier 6E and 6M variants enter mass production across multiple mainstream vehicle models, while the high-end 6P is scheduled to debut on Chery models later this year. With the successful bring-up of the entry-level 6B, Horizon has now completed its full-stack product lineup—spanning low-, mid-, and high-level tiers—marking a key milestone in the maturity and scalability of its ADAS platform, said the company.
The ADAS market is under dual pressure to enhance safety features while reducing cost. Leveraging its extensive experience and deployment volume in front-view vision systems, Horizon has significantly enhanced the competitiveness of the Journey 6B. The solution is designed to help partners develop cost-effective integrated camera solutions.
With 18 TOPS of computing power, the 6B benefits from Horizon's in-house BPU Nash architecture, enabling efficient support for mainstream algorithms such as Transformer models and optical flow. It handles full-stack computing tasks with more than double the performance of its predecessor.
Built on the forward-looking design philosophy of the Journey 6 series, the 6B delivers optimized system performance and cost. Its highly integrated design results in over 2× performance improvement, a reduction in system cost by more than 25%, and power consumption cut by over 30% compared to the previous generation. The physical size of the integrated solution is also reduced by more than 40%.
On the safety front, the 6B boasts comprehensive automotive-grade certifications and has sailed through validation against the industry's most extensive active safety test scenario database. It also supports the latest NCAP regulatory standards.
Multiple partnerships based on the 6B are already underway. Bosch, a global Tier 1 supplier, is developing its next-generation multifunctional camera platform using the 6B, with mass production scheduled for mid-2026. The platform has secured commitments from several leading global and Chinese automakers.
Delivering driver assistance capabilities for all requires balancing performance and cost from entry-level ADAS to urban driving assistance across vehicle segments. This vision has shaped the planning of the Journey 6 series, which spans from 18 to 560 TOPS—making it the industry's first full-tier ADAS compute portfolio.
Across market segments, the Journey 6 series is proving competitive. In the mid-range market, the Journey 6E and 6M have secured desiganted contracts from over 20 OEM customers, powering more than 100 vehicles with advanced driver-assistance capabilities. In the complex urban driving segment, the flagship 6P offers the most powerful compute solution currently available for assisted driving. Horizon's HSD urban driving solution, built on the 6P, will make its global mass production debut in 2025 on the Chery's Falcon Pilot ADAS under the Exeed brand.
