PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk, a coal miner majority-owned by Thailand’s Banpu Minerals, has acquired a 9.62% stake in nickel mining firm PT Adhi Kartiko Pratama Tbk, which operates a 1,975-hectare nickel concession in Southeast Sulawesi and recently listed on the IDX in January 2024. ITMG’s investment, amounting to 585 million shares, aligns with its strategy to diversify into renewable energy and secure a position in the nickel sector, crucial for the global clean energy transition. The move follows ITMG’s strong financial performance in Q1 2025, including a 2% rise in assets and a $1 billion cash reserve, as it shifts toward green energy initiatives. Other major NICE shareholders include Energy Battery Indonesia (69.57%) and Sungai Mas Minerals (10.43%)
