Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Pony.ai recently launched road testing of its Robotaxi fleet in Luxembourg, marking a significant step in the company's global expansion and underscoring its commitment to advancing autonomous vehicle mobility through international collaboration and ecosystem building, according to a post the company issued on July 3 via its WeChat account.
The testing program is being carried out in partnership with Emile Weber, a leading Luxembourg-based mobility service provider. The initial phase of the trial is underway in the city of Lenningen and will gradually extend to other regions across the country.
With a history spanning over 150 years, Emile Weber offers a wide range of services including public and private transportation, taxi operations, vehicle rentals, and tourism. Leveraging its deep-rooted local expertise and extensive transportation network, the company is supplying valuable operational data to support Pony.ai's localization and rapid deployment of Robotaxi services in the region.
This milestone follows Pony.ai's receipt of one of Luxembourg's first Robotaxi testing permits from the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works in April. The company had already established a European R&D hub in Luxembourg to accelerate innovation in autonomous driving and contribute to the development of the country's next-generation mobility infrastructure.
Pony.ai co-founder and CEO James Peng noted that, in addition to working with Emile Weber, the company is actively engaging with various public sector agencies and commercial partners in Luxembourg to jointly develop the necessary technological and regulatory frameworks for autonomous driving.
Beyond Luxembourg, Pony.ai continues to scale its international footprint. In May, it entered a strategic partnership with Uber to launch Robotaxi services in key Middle Eastern markets, with plans for further global rollout. The company also joined forces with Dubai's Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to advance Robotaxi implementation, partnered with ComfortDelGro to explore future commercialization in Singapore, and began pilot testing in Seoul's Gangnam District through a collaboration with PonyLink earlier this year.
Globally, Pony.ai's autonomous vehicle fleet has logged over 45 million kilometers in testing. The company has built an expansive 2,000-square-kilometer operation network across major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, serving high-density areas such as railway stations, airports, and commercial hubs. Over the past two years, Pony.ai has also conducted more than 500,000 hours of fully driverless testing across complex, real-world scenarios.
