Malaysian engineering group Gamuda has entered a deal to co-develop and take an equity stake in a 1.2 GW renewable energy portfolio in Tasmania, Australia, partnering with the Downie Family and Alternate Path. The portfolio includes 600 MW of wind and solar projects—such as the 250 MW Weasel Solar Farm and the 350 MW Cellars Hill Wind Farm—alongside up to 600 MW of battery storage. Gamuda will secure development rights and sole-source EPC contracts, ensuring a pipeline of energy construction work until 2029, pending approval from Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board. This marks Gamuda’s first Australian investment, aligning with its strategy to expand in renewable energy projects like solar, wind, and storage while diversifying its EPC capabilities.
