In March 2021, Huicheng New Materials put into operation a self-designed production line for the preparation of precursor materials for cathode materials of power batteries for NEVs using manganese sulfide slag. This production line was recognized by the manganese industry as "the world's first production line for the preparation of power battery materials using manganese sulfide slag."
According to Dong Xiongwen, this production line can process approximately 200 mt of manganese sulfide slag per day, yielding about 20 mt of refined manganese and 1 mt of nickel-cobalt metal.
During the production process, the production line can reduce raw material costs by 22%, electricity consumption by 90%, and water consumption by 50%, effectively conserving land resources and reducing the risk of environmental pollution.
