Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 27, GAC held a high-profile delivery ceremony at its AION International Service Center in Pattanakarn, Bangkok, officially handing over the first 100 AION Y Plus electric vehicles for ride-hailing services, according to a post on GAC INTERNATIONAL's WeChat account.
The initial phase of the project is set to deploy 2,000 vehicles, marking a significant step in GAC's rollout of its new energy vehicle mobility solutions in Thailand.
The event also marked the launch of a strategic partnership between GAC and CLVG (Thailand) Co., Ltd., one of the country's leading mobility operators. This collaboration is poised to open a new chapter in Thailand's electric ride-hailing sector. Looking ahead, the two companies plan to deepen their cooperation across Southeast Asia, with future expansions targeted at key markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia, as part of GAC's broader vision to build a sustainable, intelligent mobility ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region.
In support of Thailand's "2050 Carbon Neutral" and "EV30@30" strategies, GAC and CLVG will work together to localize China's proven ride-hailing operational model. The joint effort aims to build an EV-centered service ecosystem to provide reliable and eco-friendly transport solutions for Thai users.
In addition to the fleet delivery, GAC has been expanding its presence in Thailand on other fronts. On June 25, its subsidiary UPOWER ENERGY inaugurated a battery service center in the country. As the core energy and ecosystem arm of GAC Group, UPOWER established its Thai operations last year.
The new facility will leverage GAC's comprehensive industrial capabilities to offer integrated battery inspection and maintenance services. Located alongside GAC's retail outlet, the center enables a seamless combination of vehicle sales and energy support, providing Thai customers with a full-lifecycle ownership experience.
UPOWER is also accelerating its charging infrastructure deployment. To date, it has built 27 charging stations across Thailand and plans to establish a supercharging network of 200 stations equipped with 1,000 charging stalls by 2027.
