The Spanish government announced €296 million in funding for 33 renewable energy technology manufacturing projects, supporting production of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, heat pumps, and green hydrogen electrolyzers under the EU-funded Renoval program. While Spain already manufactures over 60% of solar and nearly all wind energy components domestically, the grants aim to reduce reliance on third markets for certain critical elements. The projects—distributed across 12 regions, with Basque Country and Castile-La Mancha hosting the most—include a €200 million award to Sunwafe SL for a silicon ingot and wafer plant in Asturias, with one-third focused on hydrogen equipment, another third on wind power, and the remainder spanning solar PV, batteries, and heat pumps.
