Published: Jun 25, 2025 18:56
Magna Mining (TSXV: NICU) has been awarded C$500,000 by the Ontario government for its brownfield Crean Hill nickel-copper-platinum group metals project as part of the province’s Critical Minerals Innovation Fund launched in 2022, with the funds to be applied towards metallurgical work aimed at enhancing precious metal recoveries from contact and footwall mineralization at Crean Hill as part of its 2024 surface bulk sampling program. Paul Fowler, Magna Mining’s senior vice president, expressed gratitude for the funding, highlighting the government’s support for developing new critical mineral production in Sudbury, while Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Stephen Lecce, emphasized the project’s role in advancing mineral processing to maximize precious metal yields and boost copper and nickel output, furthering Sudbury’s mining sector. Additionally, Magna plans to restart multiple mining operations and increase copper and nickel production in Sudbury over the next 3-4 years.
