[SMM Flash Report] June 25 — According to SMM, the domestic trade price of Indonesian nickel ore with 1.5% Ni content (delivered to destination port) ranged from USD 48.9 to USD 49.9 per wet metric ton (wmt), with an average price of USD 49.4/wmt. The "delivered to destination port" price for 1.6% Ni content ranged from USD 53.9 to USD 56.9/wmt, averaging USD 55.4/wmt. By the end of June, the premium for Indonesian domestic ore remained high at approximately USD 26–28/wmt. The persistently high premium is primarily attributed to extended rainy seasons in the two major nickel-producing regions—Sulawesi and Halmahera—which has tightened ore supply. On the demand side, some Indonesian smelters have already been operating at a loss and are finding it difficult to accept the current price level. As such, the upward potential for the premium on pyrometallurgical ore in July is expected to be limited.
