Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Bosch recently announced it has secured a major contract with a leading Chinese automaker to offer the latter new cockpit domain controllers built on Qualcomm's SA8775P chip platform, according to a press release Bosch issued on June 5 via an official WeChat account.

The project will span multiple vehicle models, with the first slated for mass production in the second half of 2025. It is expected to be the world's first cockpit domain controller to support full integration between cockpit and driving functions.

In response to the growing trend of centralized and intelligent vehicle E/E (electrical/electronic) architecture, Bosch said it is pioneering a cross-domain fusion solution built on a single system-on-chip (SoC). The company's first-generation cockpit-driving fusion controller integrates a 230K DMIPS CPU and a 72 TOPS neural processing unit, delivering performance that significantly surpasses the current mainstream SA8155P-based cockpit systems.

This solution also supports advanced features such as 3D human-machine interfaces, large AI models with edge-cloud collaboration, and mid-level assisted driving capabilities including highway Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and urban memory driving. Bosch says the platform will help automakers lower total vehicle costs while providing end users with a more efficient, safe, and convenient driving experience.

Bosch said it has already built a comprehensive product lineup in the smart cockpit segment. In 2021, it globally launched the standard edition of its smart cockpit platform based on Qualcomm's SA8155P, followed by premium and upgraded versions.

In April 2023, Bosch announced it had won a next-generation smart cockpit project from a prominent international automaker. This marked the first project focusing on the upgraded version of Bosch China's smart cockpit platform, built on the Qualcomm QC8255 chip, with mass production expected in the second quarter of 2025.

[Automotive: Toyota Decides To Halt Development Of Certain Models]
Toyota Motor Corporation has decided to halt the development of its next-generation battery electric vehicles, specifically targeting a sedan model for its luxury brand Lexus that was originally planned to commence production in mid-2027. This vehicle, featuring fast-charging capabilities and longer cruising range, was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2023. Initially planned for market launch in 2026, its production start was later postponed to 2027. Over the past year, Toyota's global electric vehicle sales exceeded 190,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 42.4%. However, the decision by the Trump administration in the US to eliminate tax incentives for electric vehicle purchases has created adverse market conditions.
