East Germany's Hydrogen Energy Helps Heilongjiang's Cold Regions Build a Benchmark for Green Hydrogen

Published: Jun 5, 2025 15:12

In 2024, the 200 MW wind power-to-hydrogen combined operation demonstration project in Boli County was launched. As the first green hydrogen production site in eastern Heilongjiang, this project was not only listed as a major project for the comprehensive revitalization of north-east China, but also a key provincial industrial project. The core equipment, the diaphragm compressor, for the project was provided by Yantai Dongde Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a national-level specialized and sophisticated "little giant" enterprise. The project successfully overcame the complex climatic conditions in mid-to-high latitude areas, setting a benchmark for the construction and equipment application of green hydrogen projects in cold regions of China.

Upon completion, the 200 MW wind power-to-hydrogen combined operation demonstration project in Boli County can provide 620,000 megawatt hours of clean electricity to the power grid annually. After being put into operation, it can save approximately 190,000 mt of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 480,000 mt each year. It can provide valuable experience for the consumption of renewable energy and the construction of the hydrogen energy industry chain in the region, effectively promoting the green integrated development of "wind and solar power, energy storage, hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol".
