Indian Oil Corporation will establish India's largest green hydrogen plant in Panipat by 2027

Published: Jun 5, 2025 14:16

On June 2, it was reported that Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is currently constructing the country's largest green hydrogen plant in Panipat.

The plant is expected to be completed by 2027, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 mt of hydrogen. By replacing the fossil hydrogen currently used in refineries, the plant is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions.

IOC has determined the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) for a 10,000 mt per year green hydrogen power generation unit at its refining and petrochemical complex in Panipat. This project represents a significant achievement for IOC in the field of green hydrogen, solidifying its leading position in India's clean energy initiatives.
