The Nyingchi Economic and Technological Development Zone has achieved the first integrated hydrogen production and refueling operation for hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in Tibet.

Recently, Tibet Autonomous Region's first hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck successfully completed a test drive in the Nyingchi Economic Development Zone, marking a "zero breakthrough" in hydrogen energy transportation equipment across the region. This significant milestone has injected new momentum into the construction of Tibet's green transportation system, demonstrating Nyingchi's innovative breakthroughs in the field of green energy transportation.

The hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck used in this test drive was provided by Dongfang Electric Corporation, a company recruited through investment promotion efforts in the Nyingchi Economic Development Zone. The car model is a 49-ton hydrogen fuel cell tractor truck, equipped with a 200kW fuel cell system independently developed by Dongfang Electric. It boasts advantages such as zero carbon emissions, adaptability to high-altitude and cold environments, long driving range, strong power, and a comfortable driving experience. During the test drive in the Nyingchi Economic Development Zone, the hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck successfully completed preset tasks, including driving tests under various road conditions, load-bearing capacity tests, and energy efficiency tests, fully demonstrating its excellent performance and stability.

Since establishing its presence in the Nyingchi Economic Development Zone, Dongfang Electric Corporation has been accelerating the introduction and cultivation of upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, promoting the integrated development of the clean energy industry with other related industries, and continuously advancing research on the plateau adaptability of key technologies and equipment for hydrogen fuel cells, as well as their industrialisation applications. The successful test drive not only verified the practical performance of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in plateau regions but also laid the foundation for the localized development of the hydrogen energy industry in Nyingchi.

Moving forward, the Nyingchi Economic Development Zone will take this demonstration as an opportunity to promote the widespread application of hydrogen energy in areas such as plateau hydrogen-oxygen thermal polygeneration, logistics and transportation, and engineering construction. It will continue to build a new highland for clean energy development, contributing to Nyingchi City's green transformation and high-quality development.
