Sichuan Pengzhou Hydrogen Production Station Successfully Obtains Work Safety License

On May 15, Sichuan Huaneng Hydrogen Energy Company successfully obtained the "Work Safety License" issued by the Chengdu Emergency Management Bureau, becoming the first water electrolysis hydrogen production enterprise in Sichuan Province to obtain such a license. This also marked the transition of the Huaneng Pengzhou Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production Demonstration Station from trial production to formal production.

Facing challenges such as no precedents to follow and unclear approval procedures, Sichuan Huaneng Hydrogen Energy Company actively engaged with relevant departments at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, exploring a complete approval process for the work safety license of water electrolysis hydrogen production. After multiple steps including online application, on-site inspection, and issue rectification, the company finally succeeded in obtaining the license.

The Party branch of Sichuan Huaneng Hydrogen Energy Company earnestly implemented the important expositions and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on work safety, and carried out the deployment requirements of the Party group of the China Huaneng Group and the Party committee of Sichuan Company on work safety. They conscientiously fulfilled their work safety responsibilities, preventing and resolving major safety risks. The Party member assault team meticulously investigated and rectified safety hazards, completing the improvement of operating procedures, technical transformation of compressors, replacement of hydrogen discharge flame arresters, and optimization of the hydrogen filling traceability system, further enhancing the work safety management level of the hydrogen production station.

The Pengzhou Hydrogen Production Station is a demonstration project of the "13MW Hydrogen Production System Key Technology Development and Demonstration," one of the top ten scientific and technological demonstration projects of the China Huaneng Group during the 14th Five-Year Plan. It began trial production on June 12, 2024, and produced and sold 200,000 kg of hydrogen during the trial production period. Compared to coal-based hydrogen production, it reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4 million kg, demonstrating significant social and environmental benefits, and providing a solid foundation for Chengdu to build a "Green Hydrogen City."
