PowerChina, one of the world’s largest construction contractors, has expressed strong interest in participating in Vietnam’s railway and renewable energy projects, particularly the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway route, which was recently approved with a $7.89 billion investment. During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, PowerChina Asia-Pacific president Zhou Jiayi emphasized the company’s commitment to quality, efficiency, and technical cooperation with Vietnamese partners. Prime Minister Chinh welcomed the cooperation, highlighting Vietnam’s encouragement of reputable Chinese firms in strategic infrastructure, clean energy, and technology transfer, and suggested expanding collaboration through local enterprises and integrating Vietnamese firms into PowerChina’s global supply chain. PowerChina, active in Vietnam since the 2000s, has already signed an MoU with several Vietnamese companies to form the CVRail consortium to engage in key railway projects.
