CIMC ENRIC Helps Landmark Hydrogen Energy Closed-Loop Demonstration Project in the Steel Industry

Recently, CIMC Enric's strategic partner, Rockcheck New Energy Group's Rockcheck New Energy (Tianjin) Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd., won the bid for the leasing project of 6×4 hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty truck tractors of Ansteel Automobile Transportation Co., Ltd. The aforementioned hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks will utilize the hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and refueling equipment and services of the "Ansteel CIMC Coke Oven Gas to Hydrogen" project by Ansteel CIMC (Yingkou) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ansteel CIMC"), a CIMC Enric-invested enterprise. They will transport steel from Ansteel (Shenyang) Steel Processing and Distribution Center to the Dalian base via the Shenyang-Dalian Expressway.

This marks the full implementation of CIMC Enric's core hydrogen energy equipment and processes in the Ansteel CIMC project. The project also signifies that CIMC Enric has successfully established a complete industry chain closed-loop from hydrogen sources, storage, and transportation to end-user applications, setting an innovative benchmark for the green and sustainable development of the steel industry and the commercialization of hydrogen energy.

The "Coke Oven Gas to Hydrogen with LNG Co-production" project, jointly invested by CIMC Enric and Ansteel Co., Ltd., officially commenced production in September 2024, with an annual hydrogen production capacity of 15,000 mt. In addition to hydrogen production, the company has customized a systematic solution for the project, covering "production," "storage and transportation," "application," and digital empowerment: through the combination of hydrogen tube trailers and hydrogen storage cylinder groups, ensuring safe and efficient hydrogen storage and transportation; on the refueling side, its self-developed hydrogen refueling station and filling mother station equipment have been put into operation; on the application side, it has collaborated with ecosystem partners to customize hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks suitable for steel logistics scenarios, fully meeting the high-frequency and heavy-load demands of steel mill short-haul transportation.

Ansteel Group, the parent company of Ansteel Co., Ltd., aims to reduce its total carbon emissions by 30% from the peak by 2035, becoming one of the first large steel enterprises in China's steel industry to achieve carbon neutrality, providing an excellent demonstration scenario for hydrogen energy applications; CIMC Enric, as a leader in clean energy equipment manufacturing, has already achieved a full industry chain layout around natural gas and hydrogen energy.

The partner in this project, Rockcheck New Energy Group, is an integrated hydrogen energy industry solution provider, having established an integrated hydrogen energy full industry chain application scenario. Its hydrogen energy zero-carbon transportation model covers regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia, serving multiple scenarios including steel, chemical, port, mine, and industrial parks, leading the application practice of hydrogen energy commercial vehicles. After joining the Ansteel CIMC project, Rockcheck New Energy Group is expected to further broaden future hydrogen energy multi-application scenarios.
