A delegation from Hubei Hydrogen Power Technology visited Hubei Shouheng Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xiaogan Shouheng City") and reached a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties jointly established a round-trip hydrogen energy cold-chain logistics route from Xiaogan Shouheng City to Wuhan Baishazhou Market. This collaboration marks the launch of the first hydrogen energy cold-chain transportation route in Central China, injecting green momentum into the efficient circulation of regional fresh agricultural products and serving as a benchmark practice for the integration of hydrogen energy industry applications and modern agriculture in Hubei Province.
As the largest agricultural products circulation hub in Central China, Xiaogan Shouheng City shoulders the responsibility of ensuring the stability of the agricultural products supply chain for the Wuhan metropolitan area and surrounding provinces and cities. The strategic cooperation with Hubei Hydrogen Power Technology aims to address the pain points of high energy consumption and emissions in traditional cold-chain logistics through hydrogen energy technology. As a leading enterprise in hydrogen energy logistics applications within the province, Hubei Hydrogen Power Technology will provide customized hydrogen fuel cell cold-chain transportation vehicles and supporting hydrogen refueling services for the project, ensuring "zero carbon emissions, long driving range, and high efficiency" operations for the logistics route.
The person in charge of cold-chain logistics at Shouheng City stated, "The launch of the hydrogen energy cold-chain route is a crucial step for Shouheng City to implement the 'dual carbon' strategy and promote the green transformation of the supply chain. In the future, we will leverage the clean advantages of hydrogen energy technology to build a low-carbon logistics system covering the entire chain from farm to table, providing dual guarantees for people's livelihoods and green development in Central China."
The implementation of this project will yield multiple benefits.Economic Aspect: It will enhance the efficiency of agricultural products circulation between Xiaogan and Wuhan, reduce logistics costs by approximately 40%, and facilitate the coordinated development of the agricultural industry chains in both regions.Environmental Aspect: It is expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by over 25 mt, equivalent to planting 263 trees.Industrial Aspect: It will promote the clustering of the entire hydrogen energy industry chain, including production, storage, transportation, and utilization, in Hubei, accelerating the commercialization process of hydrogen energy transportation.
The Phase II project of Xiaogan Shouheng City, the 500,000 mt Smart Cold-Chain Center, is currently under construction. This cold-chain center adopts the world's leading CO₂ cascade refrigeration technology and will build a cold storage cluster with a total warehouse storage capacity of 500,000 mt, including 8 large cold storages and 1 cold-chain trading hall. It will integrate the multi-temperature cold storages already in operation in Phase I, bringing the overall cold storage capacity to nearly 1 million mt. Upon completion in 2025, together with the already operational Phase I project, it will form a commercial and logistics industry cluster encompassing international trade, food processing, exhibition and sales, e-commerce, urban distribution, multimodal transportation, inspection and detection, emergency reserves, and other functions, becoming the largest and most advanced cold storage and warehousing base in Central China. Both parties will take this cooperation as a starting point to gradually expand the scale of hydrogen-powered cold-chain vehicles and extend and expand the cold-chain logistics routes. With the official launch of the hydrogen-powered cold-chain routes, Hubei Hydrogen Power and Xiaogan Shouhengcheng are jointly writing a new chapter in green logistics in Central China, providing replicable "Hubei experience" for the low-carbon transformation of the national agricultural products circulation industry.
