On May 8, the megawatt-scale integrated hydrogen production and refueling demonstration station project based on anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis for hydrogen production, undertaken jointly by China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd. and China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. for China Southern Power Grid, was put into operation.

Located in Xiayuan Village, Guangning County, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, the project has a hydrogen production capacity of 1.25 megawatts (250 standard m³ per hour). It comprises one 1-megawatt and one 250-kilowatt AEM (anion exchange membrane electrolysis) hydrogen production system, as well as one megawatt-scale AEM water electrolysis-based hydrogen refueling station. It is an initiative targeting the hydrogen energy ecosystem for green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. The project aims to conduct testing of water electrolysis-based hydrogen production equipment, explore integrated control technologies for water electrolysis-based hydrogen production systems, and accumulate experience in the construction and operation of integrated hydrogen energy projects, thereby establishing China's first megawatt-scale AEM water electrolysis-based hydrogen production demonstration station.

After the project becomes operational, it will contribute to the realization of the local strategy for green and sustainable development, and hold significant importance for advancing the hydrogen energy industry and achieving the "dual carbon" goals.
