On April 24, the project to construct a new green hydrogen and ammonia synthesis plant with an annual production capacity of 800,000 mt by Regenerative Green Hydrogen Energy (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. was officially filed.

According to the announcement, the project, located in the raw material block of the New Materials Industrial Park in Chahar Right Rear Banner, Ulanqab City, has a total investment of 7 billion yuan.

Upon completion, the plant will produce 120,000 mt of green hydrogen and 800,000 mt of green ammonia annually. The project will be constructed in two phases, with each phase having a capacity of 400,000 mt. The newly built process production units in Phase I mainly include: one air separation and nitrogen production unit, one hydrogen purification unit, seven electrolytic hydrogen production workshops (housing a total of 56 modular 2,000 Nm³ alkaline electrolyzers), and one ammonia synthesis unit. The newly built storage and transportation units mainly include: eight hydrogen storage tanks, twelve ammonia storage tanks, a truck loading platform, and a railway loading platform. The newly built auxiliary facilities mainly include: a central control room, an on-site cabinet room, an analysis and testing center, a main step-down substation, seven electrolytic hydrogen production substations, an ammonia synthesis unit substation, an air separation unit substation, a hazardous waste warehouse, a chemical warehouse, a comprehensive maintenance station, and a spare parts warehouse. The newly built utilities mainly include: a refrigeration station, a heat exchange station, a desalination station, a circulating water station, a fire water station, an emergency water pool, an initial rainwater pool, a rainwater monitoring pool, an effluent discharge pool, and a flare. The newly built living facilities in front of the plant mainly include: an office building, a garage, a canteen, and a dormitory for shift workers. Phase I of the project will have a total of 949 equipment units, including 707 static equipment units, 90 dynamic equipment units, and 152 other equipment units (sets).

The project is expected to commence construction in October 2025 and be completed by December 2027.
