On April 27, 2025, coinciding with Southeast Sulawesi’s 61st anniversary, PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (Ceria Group) marked a historic moment by producing its first ferronickel at 13:38 WITA at the Smelter Merah Putih in Kolaka, launching a new era of green nickel industry in Indonesia. CEO Derian Sakmiwata highlighted that achieving the Project Commercial Operation Date (PCOD) on schedule strengthens Indonesia’s leadership in ESG-based nickel development. Ferronickel (FeNi), vital for stainless steel and EV batteries, is produced with a focus on sustainability. PT Ceria aims to expand with RKEF Lines 2, 3, and 4, targeting 252,800 tons of annual ferronickel output, and will also develop facilities for Nickel Matte, Nickel Sulphate, and Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) production.
