SMM Flash News: Prices of High-Grade NPI Decline Slightly on April 24

【SMM Flash News】SMM reported on April 24 that the price range of SMM 10-12% high-grade NPI (ex-factory price) was 969-975 yuan/mtu, with the average price down 3 yuan/mtu from the previous working day, and a premium of 5 yuan/mtu over SMM 8-10% high-grade NPI (ex-factory price). The price range of SMM 10-12% Indonesian high-grade NPI (arrival price including tax) was 969-977 yuan/mtu, with the average price down 3 yuan/mtu from the previous working day, and a discount of 5 yuan/mtu compared to SMM 12-14% Indonesian high-grade NPI (arrival price including tax). The SMM high-grade NPI index was quoted at 974.71 yuan/mtu on the day, down 2.97 yuan/mtu from the previous working day, a decrease of 0.3% MoM. The SMM low-carbon high-grade NPI index was quoted at 982.6 yuan/mtu on the day, down 3 yuan/mtu from the previous working day.

Nickel prices continued to fluctuate this week, with inventory remaining at a high level. Nickel prices maintained the fluctuation pattern since mid-April, with the average price of SMM1# refined nickel at 126,850 yuan/mt, up 0.5% WoW. Inventory-wise, the Shanghai Bonded Zone inventory stood at around 5,800 mt, flat WoW, while the domestic social inventory was approximately 44,700 mt, with an inventory buildup of about 701 mt WoW. The high inventory level continues to suppress the upside room for nickel prices to some extent.
