SMM April 18 News: Today, rare earth market prices showed a downward trend. Specifically, in the oxide market, Pr-Nd oxide prices dropped to 415,000-417,000 yuan per mt, dysprosium oxide prices decreased to 1.64-1.65 million yuan per mt, terbium oxide prices fell to 7.14-7.18 million yuan per mt, gadolinium oxide prices remained stable at 167,000-169,000 yuan per mt; holmium oxide prices dropped to 482,000-488,000 yuan per mt, and erbium oxide prices fluctuated between 298,000-303,000 yuan per mt.

In the metal market, Pr-Nd alloy prices decreased to 515,000-518,000 yuan per mt, dysprosium-iron alloy prices remained at 1.62-1.63 million yuan per mt, terbium metal prices stayed at 8.9-8.95 million yuan per mt, gadolinium-iron alloy prices were stable at 162,000-164,000 yuan per mt, holmium-iron market prices dropped to 490,000-500,000 yuan per mt, and lanthanum-cerium alloy prices ranged between 17,000-22,000 yuan per mt.

Currently, rare earth market prices are generally on a downward trend. Although there were some purchasing activities yesterday, they had a relatively small impact on the supply-demand relationship. Prices of medium-heavy rare earths have started to drop back slightly. In the light rare earth sector, due to poor downstream order conditions, most magnetic material manufacturers have adopted a purchasing-as-needed strategy, leading to strong market sentiment of wait-and-see and continuous price declines. Therefore, the overall rare earth market prices are showing a downward trend: medium-heavy rare earth prices have dropped back slightly, while light rare earth prices continue to decline. It is expected that in the short term, there is still room for further price declines in the rare earth market.

Critical Metals Secures $30M for Greenland Rare Earth Project Amid Global Supply Chain Shift
Rare earth developer Critical Metals Corp. (Critical Metals) approved $30 million in funding to accelerate development of its Tanbreez rare earth project in Greenland. Tanbreez is one of the world’s largest known rare earth deposits. The company said the funding would be used to advance drilling, infrastructure, engineering design, and mineral processing and metallurgical testing required for production. The move came as the US and its allies were building supply chains for critical minerals essential to electronics, national defense, and clean energy technologies.
