According to the official WeChat account of Jianlong Group, Chengde Jianlong recently received good news. The quality of its gear steel product samples, DL1920 and DL2020-series, successfully passed the product verification of BYD Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as BYD) and was officially included in BYD's list of qualified suppliers, achieving direct supply. This breakthrough marks that Chengde Jianlong's technical level and product quality in the field of gear steel have been highly recognized by top domestic automotive manufacturers.

As a leading enterprise in the domestic NEV field, BYD has extremely high requirements for the technical level and product quality of its suppliers. BYD's technical team conducted on-site surveys at Chengde Jianlong's production line and gave high recognition to the company's tooling equipment, quality control, smart factory, safety production, and environmental protection measures.

In recent years, gear steel, as a pillar category among various types of automotive steel, has been continuously refined by Chengde Jianlong as a key R&D steel category.

For example, to address the issue of oxygen content affecting the fatigue life of gear steel, Chengde Jianlong developed a multi-process ultra-low oxygen control technology for gear steel, achieving stable control of total oxygen content at ≤10ppm. To improve the problem of sulfides reducing the transverse mechanical properties of steel, the company developed a sulfide modification treatment method, which spheroidizes, refines, and disperses sulfides in the steel to improve the cutting characteristics of gear steel, achieving dual improvement in processing and mechanical properties. To solve the technical bottleneck of deformation after heat treatment of carburized gear steel, the company developed a high homogenization control technology for gear steel, achieving precise and stable control of high-standard gear steel with a hardenability bandwidth of ≤4HRC and banded structure of ≤2.0 grade.

By adopting strict process controls such as full-process oxygen control, composition and structure homogenization treatment, sulfide morphology regulation, and large rolling ratio, Chengde Jianlong's gear steel products have high cleanliness, narrow hardenability bandwidth, excellent banded structure, and cutting performance, making them highly competitive in the market.

In the future, Chengde Jianlong will continue to lead with technological innovation, deeply cultivate the high-end automotive steel market, further improve product quality and technical level, and build a supply chain ecosystem of co-creation, sharing, and win-win, contributing to the high-quality development of the domestic automotive industry.

[SMM Analysis] Stronger Profits, Yet Limited Supply Elasticity: H1 2026 Americas Moly Mine Review
In H1 2026, Americas moly supply divergence deepened. Despite stronger mining profits, overall output failed to rebound. While H2 may see recoveries at select large mines, supply elasticity remains constrained. Which operations are dragging on supply, and where will incremental growth emerge? SMM data reveals a market entering a new phase of "stronger margins, diverging production, and concentrated incremental gains."...

[Acciaierie d’Italia Hot-End Shutdown Decision Remains Pending as September 16 Deadline Nears]
Milan’s Court of Appeal has reserved its decision on a request by Acciaierie d’Italia and Ilva in Extraordinary Administration to urgently suspend enforcement of an earlier order requiring the shutdown of the hot-end operations at the Taranto steelworks. The underlying court order, confirmed in July, requires hot-end activities to be halted by October 28, but the latest hearing did not produce an immediate ruling on whether implementation of that order will be suspended. The timing is becoming increasingly critical for the plant. According to statements made following the hearing, Acciaierie d’Italia has indicated that September 16 represents the operational point of no return for beginning the shutdown process, as once procedures to switch off the hot-end facilities are initiated, reversing them would become extremely difficult. Lawyers involved in the case said they expect the court to issue its decision before that date. The situation therefore remains a significant supply-risk factor for the Italian steel market, particularly as the Taranto works is a major source of domestic flat-steel feedstock. However, no new court decision has yet ordered, prevented or suspended the shutdown. The key near-term development will be the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the suspension request ahead of the September 16 operational deadline.
