Capacity-wise, the domestic alkaline electrolyzer market maintained 35.77 GW this week, with no new capacity added. In terms of deliveries, as of April 3, 2025, ASME Hydrogen Energy delivered one 1,000 Nm³/H alkaline electrolyzer to Australia last week, while Xibei Hydrogen Energy delivered one 1,000 Nm³/H alkaline electrolyzer to a green hydrogen project in Jilin. In the PEM sector, Hydrogen Energy delivered one 50 Nm³/h electrolyzer to Europe last week. As of March 20, 2025, domestic companies (including overseas deliveries) had delivered a total of 10 MW of alkaline electrolyzers (data sourced from public information).
In terms of electrolyzer orders, as of this week, LONGi Hydrogen signed a supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's NEOM for the world's largest single green hydrogen project, confirming at least one 2,000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer order. As of April 3, 2025, a total of at least 46 orders for 1,000 Nm³/H electrolyzers and one 2,000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer order were confirmed, including 10 from Xingong Green Hydrogen, 16 from Sungrow Hydrogen, 12 from CRRC Zhuzhou, and 8 from Sany Hydrogen.
This Week's Electrolyzer Industry Review
The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, issued a procurement announcement for a 10 MW alkaline electrolyzer, with a budget of 4.9 million yuan, requiring domestic equipment, setting a historical low bid for 2,000 standard cubic meter electrolyzers.
LONGi Hydrogen signed a supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's NEOM for the world's largest single green hydrogen project, using its self-developed 2,000 standard cubic meter alkaline electrolyzer, reducing the cost per watt to 0.12 yuan, setting a new low in overseas markets.
Tsinghua University, in collaboration with Shanghai Electric, released the fourth-generation AEM electrolyzer technology, increasing current density to 4.5 A/cm², improving dynamic response speed by 60%, and significantly enhancing compatibility with wind and solar power fluctuations.
Hydrogen Maple Energy, in collaboration with SPIC, completed a joint test of a 1,000 mt magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage device and a 10 MW electrolyzer, achieving a hydrogen storage density of 7.6 wt% and improving system efficiency to 78%.
The State Administration for Market Regulation released the national standard "Specifications for Performance Testing of Alkaline Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production Systems" (draft for comments), clarifying thresholds for core indicators such as current density, efficiency, and lifespan.
