I. Policy Announcements
1. Four Ministries Jointly Issue Document to Promote Hydrogen Energy Transportation Applications
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Ministry of Transport, and National Energy Administration jointly issued the "Guidance on Accelerating the Large-scale Application of Hydrogen Vehicles," setting a target of adding 5,000 hydrogen vehicles in demonstration city clusters for hydrogen-powered heavy trucks and buses by 2025. Simultaneously, detailed subsidies for hydrogen refueling station construction were introduced, with the maximum subsidy per station increased to 5 million yuan.
2. EU Carbon Tariff Adjustment Spurs Green Hydrogen Demand
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) officially included hydrogen energy in its accounting system, requiring imported steel and chemical products to be accompanied by a certain proportion of green hydrogen, prompting domestic enterprises to accelerate the layout of green hydrogen supply chains in the EU market.
II. Corporate Developments
1. LONGi Hydrogen Secures 1.2GW Electrolyzer Order in the Middle East
LONGi Hydrogen signed a supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's NEOM for the world's largest single green hydrogen project, using its self-developed 2,000 Nm³ alkaline electrolyzer, reducing the cost per watt to 0.12 yuan, setting a new low in overseas markets.
2. Sinopec Launches "Hydrogen Highway" Plan
Sinopec announced plans to build 50 integrated hydrogen refueling stations in highway service areas of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions by 2025, equipped with self-developed 70MPa high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks and liquid hydrogen transportation technology, establishing a cross-provincial hydrogen-powered heavy truck transportation network.
III. Technological Advancements
1. New-Type Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzer Efficiency Exceeds 80%
A team from Tsinghua University, in collaboration with Shanghai Electric, released the fourth-generation AEM electrolyzer technology, increasing current density to 4.5A/cm², improving dynamic response speed by 60%, and significantly enhancing compatibility with fluctuating wind and solar power supplies.
2. Solid-State Hydrogen Storage and Transportation Takes a Key Step Toward Commercialization
Hydrogen storage material company Hydrogen Energy announced the commissioning of a 1,000 mt magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage device, with a hydrogen storage density of 7.6wt%, a cycle life exceeding 1,000 cycles, and a cost reduction of 40% compared to liquid hydrogen. The first batch of products will be used in distributed hydrogen supply projects in the Yangtze River Delta.
IV. Industry Collaboration
1. Wind and Solar Hydrogen Integration Projects Commence
Inner Mongolia and Gansu simultaneously launched four wind-solar-hydrogen-storage integration bases, with a total scale exceeding 2GW, accompanied by downstream facilities for green ammonia synthesis and methanol production. SPIC and China Three Gorges Corporation led the formation of a technology alliance to share data resources.
2. International Hydrogen Energy Innovation Center Established in Shanghai Lingang
The "Hydrogen Technology Cross-Border Incubator," jointly established by the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, Toyota, Shell, and the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance, officially began operations, focusing on promoting mutual recognition of hydrogen fuel cell standards among China, Japan, and South Korea, and researching cross-border green hydrogen trade mechanisms.
