Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FANGCHENGBAO, BYD's brand that specializes in professional and personalized identities, has officially entered the compact SUV segment with the pre-sale launch of its latest model, the TAI 3, on March 31.
Offered in five variants, the TAI 3 is priced between 139,800 yuan and 203,800 yuan. It is set to officially hit the market in April.
Inspired by the concept of an "interstellar combat vehicle," the SUV features a bold and futuristic design, highlighted by dual-line cut headlights and taillights, a rugged mecha-style body, and a distinctive wing-shaped rear toolbox that seamlessly blends technology with functionality.
Inside, the cabin continues the sci-fi theme with a wing-shaped dashboard, C-shaped ambient lighting, and FANGCHENGBAO's signature "battle gear" shifter paired with crystal buttons.
The TAI 3 is also designed to accommodate extensive aftermarket modifications, with FANGCHENGBAO collaborating with various customization brands to offer unique styling options.
The model integrates BYD's core technologies with trendsetting features, notably its "1 drone, 3 compartments" layout, the "E+2C" intelligent system suite, and the "iCT" safety package.
The "1 drone, 3 compartments" concept includes an intelligent in-car drone system developed in partnership with DJI (available for the highest-spec variant), an electric front trunk, an immersive cockpit, and a multifunctional rear compartment.
The electric front trunk boasts a 151L capacity, capable of storing a 20-inch suitcase, and features an independent design to keep the interior odor-free. Its optimized opening height of just 90 cm enhances accessibility.
The AI-powered cockpit offers an engaging in-car experience with voice interaction, one-touch scene switching, and a central "floating island" console that integrates wireless phone charging, storage, lighting, and karaoke functions. A customizable control panel for the front passenger, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, Devialet audio, a hot-and-cold mini fridge, and one-touch foldable rear seats further elevate the driving experience. The 28L rear compartment adds additional personalized storage.
The "E+2C" suite features BYD's EVO+ intelligent platform, the "God's Eye C" advanced driver-assistance system, and an active road preview with the DiSus-C intelligent damping control system. EVO+ enables the TAI 3's iATS smart terrain recognition system, which can detect and adapt to surfaces such as grass, sand, mud, and snow. The model also debuts BYD's ultra-intelligent all-wheel-drive system, offering "energy triple locks," a recovery assist mode, crawl mode, and the brand's signature "leopard-style" turn function.
Performance-wise, the TAI 3 delivers a 501 km driving range across all variants. It can charge from 30% to 80% of its battery capacity in just 18 minutes at normal temperatures, with low-temperature charging times reduced by 40%. Powered by a 20,000 rpm motor, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Its chassis, featuring a front dual-ball joint MacPherson suspension and a rear five-link suspension, ensures superior handling and control.
The God's Eye C system enhances intelligent driving with automated parking, obstacle avoidance, and active safety features. Meanwhile, the active road preview and DiSus-C system optimize damping adjustments, improving stability and ride comfort.
For safety, the "iCT" package includes an iTAC (intelligent torque adaption control) system, the CTB (cell-to-body) vehicle safety architecture, and the TSC high-speed blowout stability control system.
The iTAC system detects wheel slip preemptively, adjusting torque distribution to maintain vehicle stability and enabling a one-touch drift mode for enhanced driving fun.
The CTB safety architecture reinforces body strength while optimizing impact absorption and energy dispersion through coaxial motors and front-mounted steering.
Lastly, the TSC system provides stability control in tire blowout scenarios, ensuring safety even at speeds up to 140 km/h.
