April 1, 2025

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Decision No. 914/QD-BCT, imposing provisional anti-dumping duties on certain galvanizing products originating from China and South Korea. The specific tariffs are as follows: a provisional anti-dumping duty of 37.13% on products originating from China, and anti-dumping duties ranging from 13.70% to 15.67% on products originating from South Korea. The case will take effect 15 days after the date of issuance.

March 6, 2025

The Vietnam Steel Association submitted a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, urging the acceleration of the decision to implement trade protection measures on galvanized steel products from China and South Korea.

May 12, 2022

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Announcement No. 924/QD-BCT, making a negative final ruling in the first sunset review of anti-dumping measures on galvanized steel sheets originating from China and South Korea, and decided to terminate the anti-dumping measures on the products involved from China and South Korea.

  • In 2024, Vietnam imported 626,500 mt of galvanizing products from China, up over 100% MoM.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China, the total volume of galvanizing products exported from China to Vietnam in 2024 was 626,500 mt, up 130.78% YoY, also the largest increase since the termination of anti-dumping measures in 2022.

Mexico's Ministry of Economy (SE) issued a notice on September 3 finalizing affirmative anti-dumping measures on hot-rolled steel from China and Vietnam, with definitive duties taking effect the day after publication in the official gazette. For Chinese producers, duties are set at US$0.3087/kg for Shanghai Meishan Iron and Steel, US$0.3050/kg for Wuhan Iron and Steel, US$0.3070/kg for cooperating producers not selected in the sample, and US$0.3087/kg for all other Chinese exporters. Vietnamese producers face US$0.2719/kg for Formosa Ha Tinh Steel, and US$0.2855/kg for Hoa Phat Dung Quat and all other Vietnamese exporters. The measures cover flat-rolled hot-rolled steel products of iron, carbon, or alloy steel with thicknesses up to 25.4mm. The case originated from an investigation launched March 3, 2025, with preliminary duties announced March 23, 2026.
