Founders Metals Inc. announced that the initial drilling results from the recently discovered high-grade Van Gogh deposit at its Antino gold project in southeastern Suriname were positive.
The Van Gogh deposit's VG00 hole intersected 72 meters of ore at a depth of 177 meters, with a gold grade of 2.29 g/mt, and the ore body extends approximately 200 meters deep from the surface in a vertical direction.
In February, the company reported that the first hole intersected 28.5 meters of ore at a depth of 18 meters, with a gold grade of 7.12 g/mt.
Surface trench sampling analysis of the deposit showed an intersection of 17.8 meters, with a gold grade of 5.68 g/mt.
Within a 1.5-kilometer radius of the Van Gogh deposit, no current or historical mining activities by labour have been found, making it a completely new discovery.
Given the success at Da Vinci and Van Gogh, the company plans to allocate half of this year's drilling efforts to new targets.
By mid-year, a fifth drill rig will arrive at the site.
