【Aluminum Prices Remain Stable, Sentiment for Secondary Aluminum Price Adjustment Weak】Today, aluminum prices fluctuated at high levels, with SMM A00 aluminum prices remaining unchanged from the previous trading day at 20,910 yuan/mt, and secondary aluminum prices also staying stable. Domestic SMM ADC12 prices were flat compared to yesterday, ranging from 21,200-21,400 yuan/mt. In the import market, overseas ADC12 prices remained firm at a high level near $2,500/mt, while real-time import losses stayed within 200 yuan/mt. Current demand rebound is insufficient, and the market has abundant low-priced cargoes, limiting the upside room for ADC12 prices. With improved liquidity in the raw material market, the pressure on raw material procurement for secondary aluminum plants has continued to ease. If demand shows no significant improvement, ADC12 prices may face downward pressure due to cost relaxation and the impact of low-priced cargoes in the market.

Note: Import profit refers to real-time profit

Rio Tinto Secures Bell Bay Smelter Operations Through End-2031
Rio Tinto announced on October 1 that it had reached agreements with the Tasmanian Government, the Australian Commonwealth Government and Hydro Tasmania to extend electricity supply to the Bell Bay aluminium smelter through the end of 2031. The two governments will also provide a combined A$200 million support package over five years, contributing A$100 million each. Commercial terms of the power agreement were not disclosed. Bell Bay produces around 190,000 tonnes of primary aluminium annually, while its existing electricity contract was due to expire at the end of 2026. The agreement removes the smelter’s immediate operational uncertainty. Bell Bay is the third major Australian aluminium smelter to receive government-backed support in 2026, following Boyne and Tomago, highlighting continued pressure from high electricity costs and international competition.
