[Macro Factors Disrupt Copper Market, Divergent Performance of LME and SHFE Copper Prices Overnight]

Macro side, Trump stated on Wednesday that his administration will soon announce a 25% tariff on goods imported from the EU. He also raised hopes of again postponing the imposition of high new tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada, stating that tariffs on Mexico and Canada will take effect on April 2, about a month later than next week's deadline. Overall, with rising expectations of US tariffs on copper, LME copper strengthened, but the impact on SHFE copper was limited.

Today, #1 copper cathode spot prices in North China against the front-month contract were reported at an average discount of 380 yuan/mt to a discount of 280 yuan/mt, with the average discount of 330 yuan/mt up 20 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The average transaction price was 104,925 yuan/mt, down 1,435 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.
