[Samsung Plans to Launch "Mobile HBM" in 2028]
Song Jae-hyuk, the head of Samsung Electronics' Semiconductor and Device Solutions (DS) division, stated that the first mobile product equipped with LPW DRAM memory is expected to hit the market in 2028. LPW DRAM, which stacks LPDDR DRAM, significantly increases I/O interfaces, reduces power consumption, and enhances performance. It adopts a new packaging method with vertical wire bonding and is hailed as "Mobile HBM." Its bandwidth can exceed 200GB/s, representing a 166% improvement over the existing LPDDR5x.
