According to Webstock Inc., citing foreign media on January 8, an internal document released on Wednesday showed that the world's largest copper producer, Chile's Codelco, achieved a copper production of 1.328 million mt last year.
This highly anticipated final figure had not been disclosed previously, but the company's chairman, Maximo Pacheco, stated earlier this week that the 2024 production would slightly exceed the 1.325 million mt of 2023.
Facing declining ore grades, accidents, and errors in major construction projects, Codelco has been striving to lift production from a 25-year low and managed to increase production by year-end, achieving its 2024 target.
