China Securities Highlights Strategic Allocation Value of Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Sector Amid Growing Robotics and NEV Demands

Published: Dec 27, 2024 09:10
[China Securities: Continuously Recommending the Strategic Allocation Value of the Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Sector] The research report by China Securities pointed out that under the empowerment of AI large models and the boost of policies, the robotics industry is expected to experience rapid development. High-performance NdFeB permanent magnet materials, which possess high reliability and stability, are the ideal materials for robot servo motors and are expected to benefit significantly. Driven by intelligent driving, the demand for magnetic materials in the NEV sector is expected to maintain rapid growth. With the continuous emergence of momentum in the humanoid robot and low-altitude economy fields, emerging sectors are likely to become the core drivers of long-term growth in demand for high-performance NdFeB. The strategic allocation value of the rare earth permanent magnet sector is continuously recommended.

[SMM Recycled Rare Earth Weekly Review: Ore Prices Edge Up, Pr-Nd Consolidates in Stalemate, Scrap Rises Then Stabilizes] Overall, this week, scrap Pr-Nd prices edged up before holding steady. Suppliers held back from selling and adopted a wait-and-see stance, while recycling enterprises cautiously chased higher prices only for rigid demand, resulting in stagnant actual transactions. In the short term, with the tug-of-war between upstream and downstream persisting, scrap Pr-Nd prices are expected to move sideways within a narrow range.

[SMM Rare Earth Weekly Review: Mine prices edge up slightly, Pr-Nd consolidates, medium-heavy rare earth diverges] Lanthanum oxide was quoted at 5,200-5,800 yuan/mt, flat on the week; cerium oxide was quoted at 14,000-14,500 yuan/mt, flat on the week; Pr-Nd oxide was quoted at 728,000-732,000 yuan/mt, rising overall on the week. Early in the week, driven by futures prices stopping falling and rebounding, spot suppliers strengthened their willingness to hold prices firm and raised their quotes, tightening low-priced supply in the market and prompting a slight price rebound. Subsequently, as futures weakened, wait-and-see sentiment in the market intensified, and suppliers' resolve to hold prices firm loosened, with quotes undergoing a slight correction. However, plant quotes remained firm and low-priced supply was hard to find. Downstream enterprises were cautious in inquiries and procurement, and with quarterly locked-price long-term contract deliveries underway, spot order procurement volumes pulled back noticeably, leaving actual transactions in a stalemate.

[SMM Rare Earth Daily Review: Pr-Nd Stabilizes and Rebounds in the Rare Earth Market, While Medium-Heavy Rare Earth Trends Diverge] Overall, the rare earth market has entered a phase of differentiated adjustment, with the Pr-Nd series stabilizing but trading volume yet to expand, while the divergence in medium-heavy rare earth trends persists. In the short term, the price trend of Pr-Nd products still needs to be observed based on market trading activity, and prices may continue to move sideways.
