US Commerce Department Preliminarily Rules on Solar Imports Tariffs from SE Asian Countries

Published: Nov 30, 2024 11:02
The US Department of Commerce preliminarily ruled on November 29 that solar imports from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam were being unfairly sold in the US market at prices below production costs. As a result, the Department of Commerce proposed imposing tariffs of up to 271% on these imports. This investigation was initiated based on a petition submitted in April by the American Solar Manufacturers Alliance Trade Committee, whose member companies include First Solar, Hanwha Qcells USA Inc., and Mission Solar Energy LLC.
