Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC International, the global business unit of GAC Group, recently announced it has made a major leap in the Latin American market, officially entering Uruguay following its successful debut in Guatemala. The brand marked its arrival with a high-profile launch event at Carrasco International Airport, where it showcased several vehicle models.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uruguay 36 years ago, the two nations have maintained stable and fruitful bilateral ties, particularly in trade. China has been Uruguay's largest trade partner and its biggest export market for consecutive years, with significant potential for further economic collaboration. In this context, GAC International has strategically entered Uruguay as part of its broader plan to expand its footprint in Latin America.
At the event, Chinese Ambassador to Uruguay Huang Yazhong congratulated GAC International on its successful partnership with local distributors, marking a significant step in the brand's Latin American expansion. He noted that the global competitiveness of Chinese automobiles, particularly electric vehicles, is on the rise, offering more diverse choices to consumers worldwide. He emphasized the opportunity for both countries' enterprises to deepen cooperation in green, low-carbon development, particularly in the electric vehicle sector, and to work towards mutual benefits and growth.
General Manager of GAC International Americas, Wu Bingcheng, also spoke at the event, highlighting Uruguay's importance to the company's global strategy. " We are very excited to officially enter the Uruguayan market today. We are grateful for the support of our local partner, Lestido Group, who has been instrumental in making this launch possible. We understand that Uruguayan consumers have a strong demand for high-quality, high-performance, and environmentally-friendly vehicles, and we are committed to providing top-notch products and services. The event also saw the unveiling of five key models, including the EMZOOM, EMKOO, All New GS8, AION Y, and AION ES. These models, which include both gasoline and electric vehicles,promise to offer Uruguayan consumers an entirely new driving experience.
