Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 7, Talent New Energy and Changan Automobile jointly held a press conference in Chongqing to unveil their innovative separator-free solid-state lithium battery technology.

Talent New Energy introduced a "material reduction manufacturing" concept, aiming to simplify battery construction.

The technology follows a novel "4-3-2-1" roadmap based on the traditional four components of liquid lithium-ion batteries. Key milestones include:

Stage 1: Removal of the separator and partial electrolyte, producing a semi-solid-state battery. This design will be the first of Talent New Energy's products to enter production and vehicle application.

Stage 2: Full removal of the electrolyte, resulting in a solid-state battery suitable for specialized sectors, such as low-altitude economic applications.

Stage 3: Removal of the anode, leaving only active energy-producing materials.

Talent New Energy's separator-free design integrates a highly dense, composite solid electrolyte layer onto the electrode surface. This non-combustible layer enhances lithium-ion conductivity while providing exceptional heat resistance and mechanical strength, effectively preventing safety issues like thermal runaway and lithium dendrite formation.

Talent New Energy plans to begin vehicle validation of its semi-solid-state batteries by 2026, followed by mass production of fully solid-state, separator-free batteries in 2027, targeting the safety and performance needs of electric vehicles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
