A new export ban on 12 types of mineral resources and 16 types of non-mineral commodities may be implemented in Indonesia

[SMM News Flash] At the APAC (9th) Stainless Steel Industry Conference 2024, Meidy Katrin, the General Secretary of the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association (APNI), revealed on November 5 that Indonesia plans to emulate the previous nickel ore export ban to implement a new export ban on 12 types of mineral resources, including cobalt, coal, copper, bauxite, and silicon, as well as 16 types of non-mineral commodities. This move aims to promote the downstream development of various domestic industries and is expected to attract investments of up to 618 billion US dollars.
