[SMM News Flash] At the APAC (9th) Stainless Steel Industry Conference 2024, Meidy Katrin, the General Secretary of the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association (APNI), revealed on November 5 that Indonesia plans to emulate the previous nickel ore export ban to implement a new export ban on 12 types of mineral resources, including cobalt, coal, copper, bauxite, and silicon, as well as 16 types of non-mineral commodities. This move aims to promote the downstream development of various domestic industries and is expected to attract investments of up to 618 billion US dollars. This policy may have a profound impact on the related global markets.
