[SMM News Flash] At the APAC (9th) Stainless Steel Industry Conference 2024, Denis Sharypin, Strategic Marketing Director of Norilsk Nickel, stated that the supply of nickel ore resources in Indonesia still faces restrictions. Due to reduced mining quotas and the impact of the rainy season, the exports of primary nickel products have decreased. Indonesia's imports of nickel ore from the Philippines have also increased due to the widening price spread between HPM and actual transaction prices. Meanwhile, the nickel content in NPI decreased from 13% in 2023 to 12.2% in 2024.
