Indonesia's Nickel Ore Supply Constraints Highlighted at Nickel-Chromium-Manganese Stainless Steel Conference

Published: Nov 6, 2024 10:57
[SMM News] At the 9th Nickel-Chromium-Manganese Stainless Steel Conference, Denis Sharypin, Strategic Marketing Director of Russian Nickel, stated that the supply of nickel ore resources in Indonesia remains constrained. Due to reduced mining quotas and the impact of the rainy season, exports of primary nickel products have decreased. Indonesia's imports of nickel ore from the Philippines have also increased as the price difference between HPM and actual transactions widens. Additionally, the nickel content in ferronickel has declined from 13% in 2023 to 12.2% in 2024.
