BYD sees monthly sales exceed 500,000 vehicles for first time

This is the first time in BYD's history that its monthly sales exceeded 500,000 units.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") reported sales of 502,657 new vehicles for the month of October 2024, marking a remarkable year-on-year leap of 66.53% and a month-on-month rise of 19.84%. Notably, this is the first time in the company's history that its monthly sales exceeded 500,000 units.

Of the new vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicle sales reached 500,526 units, a staggering 66.24% increase compared to the same month last year and a month-on-month growth of 19.86%. Breaking down the sales by powertrain type, pure electric vehicles totaled 189,614 units, reflecting year-on-year and month-on-month increases of 14.57% and 14.95%, respectively. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales soared to 310,912 units, showing a dramatic increase of 129.3% year-on-year and 23.06% month-on-month, contributing 62.12% to BYD's overall passenger car sales.

Additionally, BYD announced that its overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles for October reached 31,192 units, with 28,012 of those being exports.

The company also sold 2,131 commercial vehicles last month, a year-on-year surge of 188.75%, which included 438 buses.

As of October, BYD's year-to-date sales for 2024 have reached 3,250,532 vehicles, representing a 36.49% jump year-on-year. At this pace, the company is on track to meet its ambitious target of 4 million units for the year with little doubt.

Breaking it down by brand and product series, the Dynasty series sold 251,090 vehicles in October, while the Ocean series achieved sales of 229,751 vehicles. The DENZA brand recorded sales of 10,781 units, and the YANGWANG brand saw sales of 282 units, primarily driven by the YANGWANG U8, whose sales reached 265 units, while the YANGWANG U9 accounted for 17 units. The BAOCHENGBAO brand, which has only one model, the FANGCHENGBAO BAO 5, available for sale, sold 6,026 vehicles in October.
