Beijing (Gasgoo)- The new energy development institute of FAW Group’s R&D Institute has successfully developed a prototype of a 7kW DC charging pile, which recently passed testing at the group’s new energy vehicle inspection center.

The prototype features a modular design that supports charging for vehicles below 1,000V, is compatible with both 4G and 5G wireless communication, and meets both Chinese and European charging protocol requirements. Additionally, it is designed with future V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) connectivity in mind, ensuring efficient, smart, and safe energy replenishment for users.

Charging piles are a critical link between electric vehicles and the power grid, promoting the efficient use of green energy. The FAW team developed several innovative technologies, including advanced power conversion topology, 1,200V high-voltage silicon carbide device control, high-power-density electromechanical integration, and high-grade electromagnetic compatibility design. These technologies enable high-efficiency energy replenishment, achieving an efficiency rate of 96% under full load.

To address the potential reliability risks posed by power grid fluctuations, the team focused on developing self-disturbance and self-recovery mechanisms for the charging pile. These innovations allow the equipment to pass abnormal grid waveform tests with a 100% success rate.

This successful development lays a strong foundation for the proprietary charging system of the group’s premium passenger car brand Hongqi. The next step is to expand Hongqi’s charging product line, enhancing the user experience with smart, safe, and convenient charging solutions.
