Beijing (Gasgoo)- On October 17, Chinese new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor celebrated the roll-off of its 500,000th mass-produced vehicle, a Leapmotor C16 Intelligent Driving Edition, from the assembly line. It took the carmaker just over 100 days to go from producing the 400,000th to the 500,000th vehicle.

Since achieving the production milestone of 400,000 units in early July, Leapmotor's sales have consistently hit new highs. In August and September, the company’s monthly sales exceeded 30,000 vehicles consecutively, with weekly sales surpassing 10,000 units in the last week of September. Cumulative sales for the first nine months of 2024 reached over 170,000 vehicles, reflecting a 94.6% year-on-year spike.

The 500,000th vehicle, the C16—a six-seat comfortable intelligent SUV—serves as Leapmotor's flagship model under the LEAP3.0 technology architecture. Equipped with the company’s proprietary Four-Leaf Clover central integrated electronic/electrical architecture, the C16 is a software-defined vehicle, offering a top-tier intelligent and luxurious cabin experience in its class.

In the overseas market, Leapmotor is steadily advancing its global expansion through partnership with Stellantis. On September 24, the C10 and T03 models were launched in Europe. Currently, Leapmotor operates in 13 European countries with over 200 dealers, aiming to establish 500 sales points by the end of 2025. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, Leapmotor plans to expand its business to Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
