Beijing (Gasgoo)- LiDAR maker Hesai Technology on October 14 announced an exclusive partnership with new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor for LiDAR usage on its next-generation vehicle platform.

The first model from this platform is expected to enter mass production in 2025.

According to the agreement, Hesai Technology will be the sole provider of LiDAR products for several models on Leapmotor’s new platform. This exclusive partnership deepens their long-term strategic collaboration in the intelligent driving sector, highlighting Hesai’s technological leadership in LiDAR and Leapmotor’s continued trust and recognition of Hesai’s capabilities.

Since establishing their initial partnership last year, the two companies have advanced the development and application of intelligent driving technologies in several new Leapmotor models. Hesai’s AT128 LiDAR is installed in all Leapmotor C-series intelligent driving edition models, enabling advanced functions like Navigation Assist Pilot (NAP) and Navigation Assist  Cruise (NAC). Moreover, it has brought this high-end sensing technology to a wider consumer market, offering these features in vehicles priced around 160,000 yuan, delivering a safer, more comprehensive intelligent driving experience.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
