Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On the morning of October 11, Dongfeng Honda, the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Honda Motor, officially commenced production at its new energy vehicle (NEV) factory, marking the launch of Honda's first global plant designed with a focus on "intelligent, green, and efficient" manufacturing. The facility integrates cutting-edge technologies to help accelerate Dongfeng Honda's transition towards electrification.

This new factory is the most digitally advanced in Dongfeng Honda's history. Built partially within existing factory structures, it incorporates extensive automation and digitalization, featuring innovative designs such as a 3D intelligent ecological space, a dual-helix carbon-neutral recycling system, and an integrated SMART production and sales system.

On the automation and intelligence front, the factory is equipped with over 400 robots, more than 260 AGV smart logistics vehicles, and state-of-the-art quality control systems. These advancements significantly enhance automation and quality assurance. With eight general factory systems and five specialized digital workshop systems, the plant enables fully traceable digital management from logistics to production, working in tandem with intelligent scheduling systems to boost efficiency and precision.

The new factory has an annual production capacity of 120,000 new energy passenger vehicles, with the Lingxi L and Ye S7 among the first models to roll off the production line. The facility will also support the production ramp-up of future models.

With the recent launches of the e: NS2 and the Lingxi L, as well as the debut of the Ye S7, Dongfeng Honda is rapidly advancing its electrification strategy. The company has also unveiled its new "Create the Future 2030" strategy and brand proposition centered on “technology, intelligence, and passion.” According to this plan, Dongfeng Honda aims to introduce more than 10 electrified models by 2030, signaling a new era of innovation and transformation for the company.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
