Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 9, the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center ("NEVC") and CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, marking a significant step forward in their partnership within the new energy vehicle sector.

This collaboration focuses on several key areas, including power and energy storage batteries, the definition of new automotive-grade chip products, the selection and validation of domestically built automotive chips, and the establishment of a quality control system for automotive chips. The partnership will also involve coordination on relevant government research projects.

As part of the agreement, NEVC and CATL will jointly establish the "NEVC-CATL Automotive Chip Evaluation and Validation Lab," which will receive accreditation from CATL. NEVC will be integrated into CATL's chip testing supplier system, further solidifying their collaboration.

NEVC highlighted that this partnership will enhance both organizations' competitiveness in advanced energy storage and automotive-grade chips. It will also promote significant progress in China's power and energy storage battery technologies and the testing and certification processes for automotive-grade chips. Together, NEVC and CATL aim to drive innovation in China's domestic automotive chip industry, boosting the country's global influence in this field.

Looking ahead, NEVC and CATL plan to deepen their technical cooperation and resource sharing, with the goal of advancing technological innovation in both the power & energy storage battery and automotive chip sectors.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
