Shenzhen’s authority releases master layout of BYD’s global R&D center

The center will feature over 50 cutting-edge technology laboratories and 11 major research institutes, focusing on automotive engineering, product planning, and new technology research.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 4, the Planning and Natural Resources Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality unveiled the planning permit and master layout for BYD's global R&D center, located in Baolong Subdistrict, Longgang District, Shenzhen, China.

The BYD global R&D center is situated southeast of Xinbu Xin Road and north of Danzhi Avenue, with Shenzhen BYD Industrial Co., Ltd. as the designated land user. The bureau has issued the construction permit for the first phase of the project and released the center's master layout plan.

The project spans approximately 650,000 square meters, involving an estimated total investment of 20 billion yuan. The total floor area will exceed 3.3 million square meters, and the first phase will cover 660,000 square meters, including 1.32 million square meters dedicated to R&D space and 300,000 square meters for talent accommodation.

The center will feature over 50 cutting-edge technology laboratories and 11 major research institutes, focusing on automotive engineering, product planning, and new technology research. It aims to attract more than 60,000 high-level R&D personnel globally, with over 50% holding master's or doctoral degrees.

The first phase will encompass around 2.26 million square meters of floor area, while the second and third phases will cover 480,000 and 560,000 square meters, respectively. Some dormitories and research facilities are already under construction.
