[August 5 LME Close: Metals Generally Decline, Copper Futures Hit Four-and-a-Half-Month Low, Short-Term Market Worries Over LME's Approval of Warehouse] LME copper futures hit a four-and-a-half-month low on Monday as the copper market was sold off due to the deteriorating demand outlook in the United States. Last week's weak monthly US employment report and a series of weak financial reports from major technology companies further hit confidence across the commodity and stock markets. In the short term, the market is concerned about the rising copper inventories approved by LME warehouses, which have risen by more than 140% since mid-May, reaching a three-year high of 251,350 tonnes.
