[SMM Hot Spot: Cold-Hot Price Gap Will Remain Low in August] Overview: As mentioned in the previous issue ("Cold-rolled Prices, Hot-rolled Prices No Longer Count?"), the cold-hot price gap widened slightly after hitting a low of 360 yuan/ton at the end of May. Based on production cost estimates, the processing fee from hot-rolled to cold-rolled steel is approximately 400-500 yuan/ton. As can be seen from the above chart, the cold-hot price gap has continued to shrink from January to May this year, and by the end of May, it had contracted to a historically low level. In June and July, the cold-hot price gap widened slightly but remained in the low range of 400-450 yuan/ton.

[ Bharat Coking Coal Output Grows 2.8% in August ]

Despite a sharp 65.9% drop in non-coking coal output, the core metallurgical segment drove total raw coal production to 2.21 million tonnes for the month.
